FIFO Families third ed 1 | Page 4

A Word From Nic's Desk C hallenging. One word that describes working in the resource industry at the moment, but as one FIFO family posted to our Facebook page “when the going gets tough, the tough get going...." At FIFO Families we love this positive attitude, especially We know that times are challenging and that is why you can lean on FIFO Families for that extra support, resources, help and advice. Everyone knows there are redundancies happening around the country and with the current economic climate, now is the time to get your financial house in order. Do you know that FIFO Families partners with trusted and fully vetted FIFO specific businesses? These businesses can work with you and your family to safe guard against the unexpected things in life. Head to the following link for more details: http://www.fifofamilies.com.au/FIFO-friendly-businesses In the last six weeks we have held three of our “pinch point” events in Perth - Easter at the Cuddly Animal Farm and two Mother’s day events (one in Ellenbrook and one in Rockingham). At these three events we had over 170 FIFO attendees. Our next event will be to celebrate Father’s Day so make sure to register on here: http://www.fifofamilies.com.au/Special-Pages/Membership, and we will keep you up to date on our fun filled action packed events. We would like to thank BGC Contracting and LWP Property Group for generously sponsoring these events. We believe it is important to be connected with others living the same lifestyle when important events such as Easter and Mothers Day occur and we know that being apart from loved ones at such times can add further stress and pressure. Being an ex teacher and ex social worker. I know how valuable education is and also having access to support. In April and May we took our workshop, which has been sponsored by Rio Tinto on the road, visiting Albany, Geraldton and Busselton. We also ran a small community workshop for families living in and around Alkimos and we thank Lendlease for sponsoring that workshop. We will be presenting in Alkimos again next month also. Hot off the press!! We are thrilled to announce that we will be offering “Transition Workshops: managing the change from 8/6 to 2/1 rosters” for FMG FIFO workers and their families in our Perth office. If you can’t attend in person, don’t worry, as we will record these and have them available to watch at a later date. For further information on our transition workshops click here. So remember keep your chin up, stay positive and know we are always here to help! Bye from me, Nicole Ashby
