Combinatorial Algebra meets Algebraic Combinatorics Meeting January 26-28, 2018 • McMaster University Organizers: Megumi Harada and Adam Van Tuyl (McMaster University) and Mike Zabrocki (York University) Combinatorial Algebra meets Algebraic Combinatorics (CAAC) 2018, is part of an annual series of workshops that began in 2004 with a meeting titled Inverse systems meet diagonal coinvariants at Queen's University in Kingston, Ontario. The mathematical constructions of inverse systems and diagonal coinvariants overlap, and the organizers of the original 2004 workshop made an effort to get researchers from both sides of this story to talk to one another to encourage a broader understanding of the underlying mathematics from different mathematical perspectives. The modified and slightly more general name for this series of workshops, Combinatorial Algebra meets Algebraic Combinatorics, was adopted in 2008. These workshops continue to attract and to connect mathematicians who use techniques in commutative algebra, representation 16 theory, geometry, and combinatorics. This year’s event was extremely successful. Indeed, though this workshop has always been held in Eastern Canada, its scope and reach has continually grown. We were also successful in representing diversity in our speakers. Out of our 14 talks, seven were delivered by women researchers. Moreover, out of our four main speakers, two were women. From a geographical standpoint, our speakers came from Mexico, Europe, and the US, in addition to Canada. The conference was sponsored by both the Fields Institute and McMaster University.  Elizabeth Milićević (Haverford College)
