Description: The dorsum of this frog varies from tan to
dark brown with darker irregular markings and spots. It has
yellowish cream dorsolateral stripes. Most individuals have
another yellowish stripe that runs from the vent to the middorsum. It has lipbars and poorly defined transverse bands
on the limbs. The groin and hidden surfaces of the thighs
are orange/red. The venter is yellowish cream to white. The
throat is grey with brown flecks. The iris is gold with a red
horizontal streak.
Similar species: Oreobates pereger has a yellow venter with
black mottling. Other Oreobates species are restricted to
lower elevations, have a more tuberculated dorsum and/or
have a longer finger I than finger II. Pristimantis species have
expanded toe pads.
Habitat and ecology: This terrestrial, nocturnal frog can be
found in the Kosñipata Valley in southeastern Peru. It inhabits
humid montane forest between 2400 and 2800 m asl.

Descripción: El dorso de esta rana varía de color canela a
marrón oscuro con marcas irregulares oscuras y puntos.
Presenta líneas dorsolaterales de color crema amarillenta. La
mayoría de los individuos tienen otra línea amarilla que se
extiende desde el vientre hasta la mitad del dorso. Presenta
barras labiales y bandas transversales en las extremidades
pobremente definidas. La ingle y las superficies ocultas de
los muslos son de color naranja/rojo. El vientre es de color
crema amarillenta a blanco. La garganta es gris con motas
marrones. El iris es dorado con una franja horizontal roja.
Especies similares: Oreobates pereger tiene un vientre
amarillo con motas negras. Otras especies de Oreobates
están restringidas a elevaciones más bajas, tienen el dorso
más tuberculado o tienen el dedo I más largo que el dedo
II. Las especies de Pristimantis tienen almohadillas digitales
expandidas.
Hábitat y ecología: Esta rana nocturna terrestre puede ser
encontrada en el valle de Kosñipata en el sudeste de Perú.
Habita el bosque montano húmedo entre los 2400 y 2800
msnm.
