The Crees Foundation
The Crees Foundation is a Peruvian based not-for-profit organisation , dedicated to supporting a sustainable Amazon through better understanding of the value of the rainforest and helping local people to access its resources in ways that are both profitable and that will preserve their forests for the future .
La Fundación Crees es una organización sin fines de lucro radicada en Perú dedicada a apoyar una Amazonía sostenible a través de una mejor comprensión del valor de las selvas tropicales y ayudando a la gente local a aprovechar sus recursos en una manera que sea rentable y que conserve sus bosques para el futuro .

Since 2003 , The Crees Foundation has been working alongside local communities , encouraging an awareness of the area ’ s biodiversity , thus enabling it to be understood as a real long-term asset . In Amazon terms , the rainforest managed by The Crees Foundation is not large but the mission is . The Crees Foundation strives to create a realistic long-term model for protecting the biodiversity of the rainforest , one that fully involves the people who live there .
As well as hosting visiting students and researchers , Crees also hosts its own collection of research and local development projects , all held together under the title of The Crees Foundation . For many years , The Crees Foundation has been supported by its dedicated and visionary director , Quinn Meyer . The foundation has been supported financially by the TJMF Foundation , who provided crucial support for this work through their Amazon Research Programme grant to the University of Glasgow and more recently through the Darwin Initiative for financial support of the Sustainable Manu project . The Crees Foundation is also supported by Crees ´ activities related to eco-tours , volunteer programmes , career-based internships and by visiting researchers .
The Crees Foundation has three main research themes : 1 ) Community based socio economic projects related to sustainable management of the natural resources ; 2 ) Conservation and biodiversity research related to the conservation and biodiversity value of regenerating forests and on-going disturbed land uses throughout the Biosphere Reserve ; and 3 ) Ecosystem research across the Manu landscape , related to biodiversity indicators and ecosystem services .
Desde 2003 la Fundación Crees ha estado trabajando junto con las comunidades locales , fomentando el conocimiento de la biodiversidad del área , facilitando de este modo que se entienda como un activo real a largo plazo . En comparación con la escala del Amazonaa , la selva que maneja la Fundación Crees no es grande , pero si lo es su misión . La Fundación Crees lucha por crear un modelo realista a largo plazo para proteger la biodiversidad de la selva , uno que involucre completamente a la gente que vive en él .
