Description: This medium sized frog has a light green dorsum
with a big elliptical, dark green marking outlined with white.
The skin is thick and glandular. Behind the arms it shows
a distinctive black blotch. The venter is cream with a red
reticulation pattern. The feet and toes are webbed and they
are red in colour. It has paired lateral vocal sacs. The iris is
dark bronze.
Similar species: The large black blotch behind the arm
distinguishes this species from other Trachycephalus species
and from the similar patterned and smaller Dendropsophus
triangulum.
Habitat and ecology: This nocturnal frog is highly arboreal
living in the canopy layer of primary and secondary lowland
forests. It comes down to the ground during the rainy season
to breed in forest temporal or permanent ponds in large
breeding congregations. It is also thought that it breeds in
holes and crevices of trees. Females lay more than 1000 eggs
at the surface layer on the water.
Descripción: Esta rana de tamaño mediano tiene un dorso de
color verde claro con una gran marca elíptica de color verde
oscuro delineado con blanco. La piel es gruesa y glandular.
Detrás de las extremidades anteriores muestra una mancha
negra distintiva. El vientre es crema con un patrón de
reticulaciones rojas. Las patas y los dedos son palmeados y
de color rojo. Tiene sacos vocales laterales pareados. El iris
es de color bronce oscuro.
Especies similares: La gran mancha negra detrás del brazo
distingue a esta especie de otras especies de Trachycephalus
y de Dendropsophus triangulum que posee un patrón similar
pero es además más pequeña.

Hábitat y ecología: Esta rana nocturna es altamente arbórea
y vive en el dosel de bosques primarios y secundarios de
tierras bajas. Durante la época de lluvias esta rana desciende
al suelo en grandes congregaciones para reproducirse en
charcas temporales o permanentes. También se cree que esta
rana se reproduce en los agujeros y grietas de los árboles. Las
hembras ponen más de 1000 huevos en la capa superficial en
el agua.
