Dendropsophus koechlini
Scientific Synonyms/Sinónimos científicos: Hyla koechlini
Common names/Nombres comunes: Koechlin’s treefrog/Ranita arbórea de Koechlin
Description: This is a small light brown treefrog. The dorsum
is light brown and the sides of the body and head are dark
brown. The dorsum can be uniformly coloured or have darker
markings such as chevron shaped ones. At night time the
sides are lighter, whitish in colour. At the tip of the snout
there is a white line that starts at the nostrils and ends in the
mouth. It shows one or two white lip bars under the eye. The
groin, anterior and posterior surfaces of the thighs and tibias
are usually black with yellow spots/blotches. Sometimes
these blotches can be absent. The venter is grayish white and
the throat is yellow in males in reproductive condition. The
iris is dark bronze.
Similar species: Dendropsophus leali lacks the yellow and black
patterns in the hidden surfaces of the legs. D. bokermanni
can have three labial bars, lacks yellow spots in the posterior
surfaces of the thighs and it has creamy white spots on the
dorsal surfaces of the thighs. D. schubarti has most of the
times yellow hidden surfaces of the thighs and does not have
a contrasting pattern between flanks and dorsum.
patas.
Habitat and ecology: This nocturnal arboreal species inhabits
lowland tropical rainforest. It is more commonly found in
seasonally flooded forest than in terra firma. It is especially
common during the wet season, when reproduction occurs in
temporary ponds. The clutches are composed of around 300
to 350 eggs. It feeds mainly on eruciform larvae.
At the MLC: Not recorded.

300 y 350 huevos. Se alimenta principalmente de larvas
