Amazophrynella minuta
Description : This tiny frog is quite slender with a very pointy nose . The dorsum is brownish with irregular darker markings , including chevrons . Some individuals have a white stripe that runs from the tip of the snout to the arm . The belly and chest are yellow with black flecks and the throat is dark grey . The ventral surfaces of the feet and hands are orange / red .
Similar species : It can only be confused with a juvenile of Rhinella , especially with R . margaritifera ones . Rhinella juveniles lack the red coloration in the ventral areas and have more prominent parotoid glands and traces of cranial crests .
Habitat and ecology : This recently described species is diurnal and can be found within the leaf litter of primary and disturbed forests up to 700 m asl in southeaste Peru ( and possibly Bolivia ). Females lay their eggs in small crevices , roots or leaf litter next to oxbow lakes . It feeds mainly on ants , but on others arthropods too .

Descripción : Esta diminuta rana es bastante esbeleta y tiene una nariz puntiaguda . El dorso es marrón con marcas oscuras irregulares , que incluyen marcas triangulares . Algunos individuos muestran una banda blanca que va de la punta del hocico a la pata delantera . La tripa y el pecho son amarillos con motas negras y la garganta es gris oscuro . Las superficies ventrales de las palmas de las patas son naranjas / rojas .
Especies similares : Solo podría ser confundida con un juvenil de Rhinella , especialmente con los de R . margaritifera . Los juveniles de Rhinella no presentan la coloración rojiza en las áreas ventrales , tienen glándulas parotoides más prominentes y al menos indicios de crestas craneales .
Hábitat y ecología : Esta especie recientemente descrita es diurna y puede ser encontrada en la hojarasca de bosques primarios y alterados hasta los 700 msnm en el sudeste de Perú ( y posiblemente Bolivia ). Las hembras ponen sus huevos en pequeñas grietas , raíces y hojarasca junto a lagos de herradura . Se alimenta principalmente de hormigas , pero también de otros artrópodos .
