Description : This small frog has a peculiar appearance . It has a pointy nose and its skin is tuberculated giving it a rocky appearance . The dorsal coloration ranges from green to brown , with variable markings which can include a broad brown middorsal stripe , a triangular-shaped marking between the eyes and other irregular markings . It shows transverse bands on the limbs . The back of the thighs is green to brown with no distinctive markings . The venter is white and granular . The iris is tan with vertical and horizontal streaks forming a cross .
Similar species : Scinax garbei has a very similar appearance but it is larger and has yellow / orange and black markings on the hidden surfaces of the thighs .
Habitat and ecology : This nocturnal treefrog inhabits both terra firme and seasonally flooded lowland forest , in forest areas near rivers . It can be found in primary and secondary forests . It breeds during the rainy season in permanent and temporal ponds . Males call from a head down position . Females lay a couple of hundred of eggs . It feeds on invertebrates , mainly spiders and orthopterans .

Descripción : Esta pequeña rana tiene un aspecto peculiar . Tiene un hocico puntiagudo y su piel es tuberculada , dándola un aspecto rocoso . La coloración dorsal varía de verde a marrón , con marcas variables que pueden incluir una banda ancha marrón mediodorsal , una marca triangular entre los ojos y otras marcas irregulares . Presenta bandas transversales en las patas . La parte de atrás de los muslos es verde a marrón sin marcas características . El vientre es blanco y granular . El iris es canela con una banda vertical y otra horizontal que forman una cruz .
Especies similares : Scinax garbei tiene un aspecto muy parecido pero es más grande y tiene marcas amarillas / naranjas y negras en las partes ocultas de los muslos .
Hábitat y ecología : Esta rana arbórea nocturna habita bosques tanto de terra firma como estacionalmente inundados , en áreas de bosque cercanas a ríos . Puede se encontrado en bosques primarios y secundarios . Se reproduce durante la estación de lluvias en charcas permanentes y temporales . Los machos cantan bocabajo . Las hembras ponen un par de cientos de huevos . Se alimenta de invertebrados , sobre todo arañas y ortópteros .
