Scarthyla goinorum
Description : The dorsum of this small , slender frog is green during the night , turning greenish brown during the day . It has some variable markings on the dorsum including mottling , an interorbital bar and longitudinal stripes . The snout is pointed . It has a wide reddish brown band that runs from the snout to almost the groin . Under this band there is another white band . The webbing in the toes is almost complete . The venter is white . The iris is light copper .
Similar species : Frogs of the genus Sphaenorhynchus are also small and green with a pointed snout , but they have less webbing and lack the lateral stripes present in S . goinorum .
Habitat and ecology : Inhabits seasonally flooded forests , where it can commonly be found in ponds and lakes . This frog is active diurnally and nocturnally on low vegetation . It breeds during the wet season . Females lay 100 to 200 eggs . Its webbed feet , long limbs and small size make it able to skitter on the surface of the water .

Descripción : El dorso de esta pequeña rana es verde durante la noche , volviéndose marrón verdoso durante el día . Tiene algunas marcas variables en el dorso incluyendo moteado , una barra interorbital y franjas longitudinales . El hocico es puntiagudo . Tiene una banda ancha de color marrón rojizo que se extiende desde el hocico hasta casi por la ingle . Bajo esta banda hay otra banda blanca . Las membranas digitales en los dedos son casi completas . El vientre es blanco . El iris es de color cobre claro .
Especies similares : Las ranas del género Sphaenorhynchus también son pequeñas y verdes con una nariz puntiaguda , pero tienen menos membranas interdigitales y carecen de las franjas laterales presentes en S . goinorum .
Hábitat y ecología : Habita en bosques estacionalmente inundados , donde por lo general puede ser encontrada en estanques y lagos . Esta rana está activa durante el día y la noche en vegetación baja . Se reproduce durante la época de lluvias . Las hembras ponen de 100 a 200 huevos . Sus patas palmeadas , extremidades largas y pequeño tamaño hacen que sea capaz de deslizarse sobre la superficie del agua .
