M assage – I have always loved massage but could rarely afford them. Tina does not like massages but I find them to be incredibly relaxing. Whether I justify my monthly massage as a “health expense” or not, I do know that it has made an improvement in my quality of life. The uilting – After peyote stitch beading for a number of years, I turned to quilting at Thanksgiving 2009 when I started my vitamin plan and as some say, “I’ve been hit by the bug.” I realized that I needed an outlet other than work in which I could escape all the stress in my life. Today, it’s a sad weekend when I don’t have time to quilt. It took a long time for me to find my passions and then to be healthy enough to enjoy them. There is a lot of evidence supporting the fact that when we do what we are passionate about, we are often much healthier – physically, emotionally, and spiritually. edtime – One of the things I learned early on was that sleep – deep sleep in a dark, quiet room – was essential to beating the other prong of fibromyalgia – the extreme, debilitating fatigue. Routine is essential. At work, if no one is bleeding and the place is not on fire, I’m out the door at 4:00 p.m. sharp. At home, when the clock strikes 8:50 p.m., under the same rules, I am giving out kisses and well wishes and then head up the stairs to bed. harity – After two years of a better life, I decided it was finally time to give back to the community and so at Thanksgiving 2011, I joined Q B day after my massage brings pain as all the toxins are brought to the surface, but I’ll take a day or two of pain for their long lasting and positive effect. ath – I found that the hot water is not only soothing but comforting as well. Because I work a lot during the week, Saturday and Sunday nights are planned around my baths during the Spring, Fall and Winter months. The warmth of the sun and being outside during the summer weekends provides its own healing remedies. B C 26  Fibromyalgia & Chronic Pain Life Sep/Oct 2012
