Ladies and gentlemen, on behalf of the Indonesia Food & Beverage Association (GAPMMI), it is my great pleasure
to welcome you to Fi Asia 2018.
Established in 1976, GAPMMI is the leading voice on food and beverage issues in Indonesia. With more than 400
members, from small to large organisations, GAPMMI serves as a source of information on the food and beverage
industry to the media, communicating a positive image and a unified voice for the Indonesian industry. The
organisation also helps protect and develop its members’ businesses by influencing public policy and providing
them with valuable assistance and information on food safety, labelling, regulatory assistance, and networking
opportunities.
I believe that Fi Asia 2018 will help us achieve our objectives of promoting Indonesia’s rapidly growing food and
beverage industry, strengthening cooperation to find new and mutually beneficial partnerships, enhancing product
quality and providing updates about advances in food ingredients. Working together, we can achieve more.
This year, the Industry Ministry of Indonesia set national investment targets of IDR 53.18 trillion for the food industry
and IDR 10.07 trillion for the beverage industry, for a total of about USD 4.6 billion, up by 6.7% year-on-year.
I believe that these targets are realistic and clearly demonstrate that Indonesia’s food and beverage market
remains attractive to both local and foreign companies. This investment shows that local and foreign companies
remain confident in the future of Indonesia’s food and beverage market.
Based on the data from Indonesia Ministry of Industry, the industry growth in 2017 was 9.23%, quite far above from
the National PDB growth which is approximately 5.07%. Even, this industry includes as one of the priority industries
in the implementation industry 4.0 which is proclaimed by the Ministry of Industry. This industry sector is considered
having readiness and potential to give big leverage in the achievement of aspirations set.
I congratulate UBM for continuing to organize this specialized large-scale of food and beverage exhibition that
focuses solely on ingredients and additives for food product development, a truly unique and effective model
for industry and academia alike. I wish Fi Asia significant growth in the years to come. GAPMMI hopes that our
strategic partnership will create more and more values for the food industry and consumers in Indonesia.
