Fete Lifestyle Magazine September 2017 Family Issue - Page 5

For many on the western hemisphere September means back to school. No more summer fun, shopping for school clothes and the ever increasing amount of textbooks. Hopefully, some of you managed to enjoy some great family vacations during the kid’s time off from school. I heard about several great trips reminiscent of Chevy Chase’s famous Griswold zany escapades from the movie Vacation. But full family trips appear to be on the decline. Today, tours are becoming more popular around father/daughter trips, divorce party excursions, and now there’s a thing with mother/son boy scout trips. The family unit has changed, for better or worse. In this issue, you’ll get to hear more about some of those changes, along with good old fashioned traditional family experiences.

But there is one thing I wish to share with readers far and wide. If you are the parent of a teenager and you feel like they just don’t respect you, only return your call or reach out when they need something … guess what? You’re not alone. If you’re kid is constantly on his or her phone, but never seems to be there for you, you’re in the majority. Too many of my married and solo parent friends complain about this and really feel isolated. Well, I feel your pain and want you to know … you’re not alone. Technology has progressed … but have we? And to all our readers far and wide, facing challenges, struggles, successes and growth, with or without family, we honor your experiences and thank you for reading our stories.
