Your body is your temple. Yes, that is true. Your health is the only thing you really have. That’s true too. What you put into your workout is what you’ll get out of your workout. Absolutely true! These clichés are commonly used when it comes to discussing health and fitness. Everywhere you turn these days there are signs that remind us that we should be taking care of our mind, body, and spirit; from yoga studios to hardcore gyms. The facts are that the healthier we are the better we feel, are more productive and live longer. Of course, there are outliers out of our control such as genetics and just plain old bad luck, but for the most part taking care of ourselves has tremendous benefits.

As a former athlete, I constantly worked out because that’s what I had to do to compete at a high level. Once my glory days were over, I still consistently hit the gym to stay in shape while attempting to maintain a healthy lifestyle. Now that I’m twenty plus years removed from competing, my experience has taught me that fitness is not only essential for my body, but for my mind.

This month’s issue is a comprehensive guide that will help jump start your workouts or keep you on track to maintaining good health and fitness for both your mind and body. We explore ways of how to not only become physically strong, but mentally aware. We also look at beauty tips for your lips and skin and look back at how famous iconic women helped to influence your shape. Women’s issues are front and center around the world today and we highlight a serious health issue that needs to gain more attention.

I’m a true believer that pursuing a good life starts with practicing a healthy lifestyle. I hope that our May issue provides some great tips, advice, and pearls that resonates and that will take your lifestyle to another level. Enjoy!
