Face your fear. While I was training for my first Ironman, I had a nasty bike crash that resulted in 2 broken bones, 17 stitches and multiple other contusions. Most importantly it left me with intense fear of riding the bike! Getting back on my bike after not being able to ride for 8 weeks had me panicked. As a matter of fact, the first time I tried, my friend said he could see my body physically shaking from the fear.

Life Lesson: It’s not about eliminating fear, it’s about moving forward in the face of it! I reminded myself that I set a goal (not to mention, the 9 months training I’d put in) to compete in the Ironman and my goal was more important than my fear. With this in mind, I faced my fear and successfully completed the Ironman. Sometimes life can feel terrifying! Setting goals and advancing in the face of fear or failure, fear of getting your heart broken, fear of not being good enough, etc. are keys to really living! You have to know, anything worth trading your life’s time for, is worth the risk!
