Hereford Lions Club has bought a seaside caravan in
Portmadoc, North Wales, especially designed and built to
provide holidays for the handicapped and their families.
Holidays are Saturday to Saturday from March
to October and the guests have to make their own
travel arrangements. Applications cannot be made
until after January 2.
For 40 years Lions had a Holiday Home in Burnham-on-Sea, much
enjoyed by thousands of guests over the years but it closed several years
ago. Now, the opportunity to take over the caravan from the Hereford branch
of the MS Society, who have provided the facility for its members for 17
years allows Lions to again offer local handicapped people and their
families a week’s low cost holiday by the sea.
The caravan is on a holiday park at Black Rock Sands, just a few minutes
walk from a superb beach and two miles from Portmadoc. The caravan
sleeps six. Hoists are available for the disabled. It is a first class park with
excellent facilities including a swimming pool, lots of activities for children
and bars and restaurant. Entertainment shows are staged each evening.
