Hereford’s fine Victorian railway station is about to be dwarfed by
two very large new modern buildings.
Plans have already been summited for a new Medical Centre to
be used by six newly merged GP surgeries on council owned land
directly in front of the railway station Now, Hereford Art College
wants to build a student’s residential block on the site of what was
Rockfield DIY, reputedly bought by Herefordshire Council for £6m
as part of the new link road project and currently used as a car
park. Hereford Civic Society are opposed to both plans.

CALL FOR CITY MASTER PLAN
Hereford is growing fast, but lacks a ‘Master Plan’ to control development in the decades ahead.
A rural market town for centuries, it is rapidly becoming an industrial mammoth. Good for jobs, but
at what risk to quality of life and more specifically the strain on the infrastructure of roads, hospital,
schools.
Hereford Civic Society is calling for a Master Plan to be developed and has the support of businesses
and the Local Enterprise Partnership, but it is a no-go from Herefordshire Council. When the council
launched the development of the old cattle market in 2004, it was urged to incorporate the whole of
the historic city centre in the regeneration plan. But never did
