Playing on their home course, the team returned a score of 114 points, three ahead of runners-up, Rory Hollinshead, Chris Aspey, Mark Davies and Jon Dallow. The winning ladies team was Pauline Foster, Gina Wyke, Clare Hadley and Sue Price of the Grove golf club. The popular event attracted 41 teams and raised £5,000 for the charities being supported by Lions Club this year. Forty years later and now owned by the same company which owns the Hereford Times, the ADMAG has finally closed down. In its hey- day the paper, full of adverts only was delivered free to homes around the county. It also delivered 30,000 copies of Festive News each November. John Priebe, who still lives in Hereford and whose father was Polish and worked in Bulmers Pectin plant sold up many years ago. It would later become part of the North Wales Media group itself recently bought by Newsquest linking Admag to the Hereford Times, its old rival for local advertising money. Hard times for newspapers Said one media expert: “When the new owners decided to stop the costly delivery of Admag direct to the door leaving would be readers to pick up a copy from local outlets its fate was sealed. But it did survive a lot longer than the Hereford Times boss predicated all those years ago. “Weekly print newspapers rely on advertising and the advent of on-line news and advertising is a real threat. Many have gone to the wall. But the Hereford Times remains one of the best in the country giving us a full round up of county news and pictures. We should be grateful it is
