Visitors flying into Calgary International Airport or Vancouver International Airport can take daily connector flights to Cranbrook Airport, located 1 hour from Fernie. Fernie is 30 minutes north of the US border (Roosville Crossing open 24 hours), 1.5 hours from Whitefish and 2 hours from Glacier National Park, Kalispell, Montana, and Glacier International Airport. Visitors can also fly into Spokane, Washington, a 5 hour drive from Fernie.

Greyhound Busline does offer a daily red eye (middle of the night) service. The local Fernie ski shuttle provides transportation between the town of Fernie and Fernie Alpine Resort (5km) during the winter ski season.
