me how I knew which way to get back to the hotel and I did not have an answer for them. It wasn’t because I did not want to answer, I honestly didn’t know! My mother asked me several times if someone had showed me the way and all I knew was that I could feel when a direction was the right one. That was a scary day in my life when I felt utterly alone and was scared for my safety. I did not personally know anyone and in a way was actually abandoned in a foreign land. There is only one logical explanation of how I found my way back to our host hotel. God is ever present! A sweet song written by a noted musical artist jesse Bonanno entitled “Never Alone” is what comes to mind whenever I share my story of being lost in London. The chorus alone reminds me of his loving nature:

“When you can’t seem to find your way home

And when life gets too hard to face on your own

I will stand as a light through your darkest unknown

I will walk with you, so you’re never alone.”

God was not only with me, he protected me while I walked unknown streets alone, and he was leading me in the right direction. There may be times where you find yourself just like I was, feeling alone, insignificant, and waiting. You may be waiting for validation, waiting for an apology, waiting for someone to acknowledge your worth. Please allow that young sixteen year old girl who stood waiting in front of Westminster Abbey to assure you that no matter where you are or how you may be feeling, God is ever present and you are never alone!
