Galvanized Bucket Stenciling Simple stencils and craft paint turn a galvanized mop bucket into a planter that doubles as a work of art. You’ll need just a few supplies including craft paint, masking tape, a small sponge and a stencil. Readymade stencils can be purchased from Michael’s and Hobby Lobby, or you can order them as we did from www.thestencilsmith.com. How to Stencil: 1. Decide on the placement of the stencil. 2. Affix the stencil to the bucket with masking tape or painters tape, making sure the stencil is taut. 3. Apply a small amount of paint to the sponge and blot extra on a paper towel. 4. Use one hand to hold the stencil tight in the area you are stenciling; apply paint to the stencil with the sponge. Repeat with more paint as needed. 5. Once dry, spray with urethane for added protection. Other Ideas: Give your galvanized bucket an antique look with chalk paint and crackle medium, add legs or attach door pulls as feet, or decorate with peel and stick wallpaper.
