STATE COMMODITY & RAW MATERIALS EXCHANGE OF TURKMENISTAN
During the period from January to October 2002, the State Commodity
and Raw Materials Exchange of Turkmenistan (SCRME) carried out 123
auctions for a total value of US$ 258.4 million and is broken down by
sector as follows:

Exports were down 33% over the same period a year earlier. The main
exporters are: Turkmen oil and gas at 68.9%, Turkmen cotton at 8.1%,
The Ministry of Textile Industry at 16.2% and the private sector at 6.8%.

Export and import contracts for the period from January to October 2002
reached US$ 329.0 million and US$323.8 million respectively.
IMPORT
During the period from January to October 2002 total import contracts
reached US$ 323.76 million. The main imports were consumer goods,
foodstuff, and technical and industrial equipment for production.
