Most enterprises (68 percent) run less than 20 percent of their workloads in the cloud At first glance, this statistic may not seem particularly encouraging, but it hides evidence of room for cloud growth within many organisations. Lending credence to this is that 55 percent of respondents report that at least another 20 percent of applications are built on cloud-friendly architectures and are ready for cloud, and it certainly appears that the market is increasingly moving to a state of cloud-readiness Amazon AWS continues its public cloud market domination No surprises here - AWS continues to lead overall in public cloud adoption, with 57 percent of respondents currently running applications in AWS, up from 54 percent in 2014. This continues to be more than four times the adoption rate of the closest competitor. First for Cloud has recently become Africa’s only authorised AWS distributor, meaning that resellers are now able to offer their customers the very best and most recognised cloud services, via their very own branded webstores. Private cloud adoption remains steady In terms of vendors, VMware remains in the lead overall, with 33 percent of respondents using vSphere as a private cloud and 13 percent using vCloud Director. As with Amazon AWS, First for Cloud is proud to offer VMware as another market leader’s solutions to its resellers. In summary, RightScale’s 2015 State of the Cloud Survey shows that cloud adoption is growing and most enterprises are leveraging multiple cloud environments that combine both public and private cloud options.
