Father Joe's Villages 2014 Annual Report (1) | Page 7
For more than six decades, Father Joe’s Villages has been guided by
a simple but powerful mission— to provide hope for those who are
hopeless and to show the way home to those who have none. This has
manifested in many ways—from a simple peanut butter sandwich to a
new set of dentures, and from a warm bed to the life skills needed for
financial stability.
Whether you are a client, staff member, supporter or partner, I am pleased
to say this central tenet burned as brightly in 2014 as in any of the previous
63 years. As the interim President and CEO this past year, I am deeply
proud of the impact we had and the lives we changed by working together
to provide the services needed for the many individuals who turned to us
for assistance.
Thank you seems so inadequate to express what you mean to our
programs. Your support and drive to change lives made it possible to help
nearly 15,000 people, while providing countless supportive services and
also serving almost 1,050,000 meals to hungry San Diegans last year alone.
2014 has been a year of many exciting changes – a trend I know will
continue in 2015 as we welcome our new CEO, Deacon Jim F. Vargas.
I am pleased to direct my major focus back to my role as the chief financial
officer knowing this organization will remain committed to the principles
that have always guided it, namely: that no life is beyond reach,
that tomorrow can be better than today and that every human
being deserves to be treated with the dignity that is inherent in
each of us.
2015 has all the makings of a great year, but before we look
forward, it seems fitting to take a moment to reflect on all that
last year had to offer. I invite you to take a few minutes to learn
more about our collaborative successes in 2014.
Gratefully,
Diane K. Stumph
