Fashion Odds (Nov/Dec 13', Issue 2.) | Page 43

The Pink Carpet Event was created from a passion to pursue a cure for breast cancer and provide a premier social engagement for those wanting to help join the fight. Local jewelry designer, Sara Beth Goldfine Baratz of SBG Designs, approached CRAVE with the idea of throwing a premiere event to raise funds and fight the disease. The venue was made up to the Nines. Prominate NFL players also attended. Poorly though, the guests lost sight of the event's objective with loose hold on alchol. In result the behavior took attention away from the band performance and amazing catering.

CRAVE Presents

CITYPAGES Presents

Artopia showed off spring and summer collections from some of the Twin Cities' hottest designers and boutiques. Plenty of wearable trends made the runway and could easily be worn by some of the Twin Cities' hottest fashionistas. Diverging from fashion, audience grew one of the main concerns and that is "where is the model diversity?" MN embodies a large melting pot and the lack of models of color with skills that also equate their white counter parts, puts this show at a lower scale. And, two or three models of color, does not do diversity justice as seen on the runway. Although Envision Artopia serves as Twin Cities biggest fashion show, we hope to see more models of color to pull inspirations for more people of all walks of lives.
