In 1974,Hines graduated from Macalester College (St. Paul, Minnesota) with honors in Sociology. Hines is also the recipient of the International Time For Peace Award, “Soul Train” Award, 1 EMMY Nomination, 5 NAACP Image Award Nominations, 5 Grammy Nominations and 3 Grammy's.
