Registrations are currently being accepted for the fifth annual “Farm Camp Minnesota.” This year, the one-day camp is expanding and will take place in three different locations: • July 26; St. Cloud area, near Rice, on the Schmitt Family Farm. • Aug. 8 and again Aug. 9; Waseca area, at Farmamerica. • Aug. 10; Northfield area, near Dundas, at Wolf Creek Dairy. The camp is put on by and sponsored by farmers, farm organizations, agribusinesses, and volunteers, and takes place from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Preregistration is required. Farm Camp allows campers the opportunity to learn about today’s agriculture, where their food comes from, how it is grown, and how farm products are used in our daily life. Each camper will have the opportunity to learn about various types of livestock and crop farms, including pork, beef, dairy, turkey, corn, soybeans and pollinators – a new addition to this year’s camp. They will also learn about the equipment used on farms, and at the Dundas and Waseca sites, will each get a ride on a tractor. Register online at farmcampminnesota.org. Early bird registration is $10 per camper by Friday, June 10; after June 10, registration is $20. Registration includes lunch, snacks, a free T-shirt, and a fun bag to take home Space is limited. Registration will close July 8 for the Rice site, and July 22 for the Dundas and Waseca sites, or when full.
