Cameron Clamon Senior • Quarterback One name that has flown under the radar in his career is Kemp senior Cameron Clamon. The three-year starter at quarterback heads into his final year as the Athens Daily Review Second Team All-Henderson County Area quarterback. Clamon looks to improve on a season in which he was 103-168 for 1,647 yards with 25 touchdowns and seven in- terceptions last year. He also rushed for 392 yards and 11 touchdowns on 87 carries. The senior gunslinger will have to find some new targets following the loss of Kane Johnson and Jr. Brooks to gradua- tion. Clamon's top targets will now be Desmond Jones, Jaise Bowie, Brock Dedie and Desmond Tutson. Those four players combined for 27 receptions last year for 472 yards and four touchdowns. If anyone can deal with the big stage and find ways to continue a winning tradition, which saw Kemp go 13-2, Co- District champions and to the state semifinals, it is Clamon. A new head coach in Lee Wilkins will find just the right packages to have Clamon shine in the Yellowjackets spread offense. Clamon will look to showcase his skills once again, lead- ing the No. 8-ranked Yellowjackets in the 2018 preseason poll for Class 3A Division I, courtesy of Dave Campbell’s Texas Football. They are one spot ahead of their new district opponent Malakoff Tigers, who sit at nine and were the state-semifinal- ists in 2016. Fans could see the Yellowjackets’ have their first MVP since 2004 when Westley Moore brought home the top award. 23
