Dave Campbell’s Preseason District 13-A, Division II Defensive Most Valuable Player Eli Arnold Senior • Defensive lineman Trinidad senior lineman Eli Arnold took advantage of his time with a first-team all-district selection in 2017. The senior had 65 tackles, two caused fumbles and one fumble recovery for coach Chad Satcher. Arnold is labeled as the Preseason Defensive Most Valuable Player in District 13-A, Division II, according to Dave Campbell’s Texas Football Magazine. At just 5 feet, 9 inches and 170 pounds, Arnold has a motor than cannot be matched about lineman in Class A play. He will use that to his advantage in hopes of getting the Trojans to the playoffs this year. With a new district for the Trojans, Arnold could find a way to bring the Athens Daily Review All-Henderson County Most Valuable Player award back to the six-man ranks. The last time a Trojan won the award was in 2007 in Stacey Womack. He could also join 1998 winner Damien Jackson and 1985 winner Mike Hornbuckle for the top award this year. 22
