Alejandro Sanchez Senior • Quarterback The 2017 campaign saw Alejandro Sanchez walk away with an Athens Daily Review All-Henderson County Area First Team selection at quarterback. In 2018, Sanchez will look to bring home the Most Valuable Player award back to Eustace for the first time since 1997. That season the award went to Dale Cope. Sanchez will be a key player for the Bulldogs under new coach Steve Smith. In 2017, Sanchez accounted for 2,053 total yards and 27 touchdowns. He was named as a first-team all-district player at quarter- back and looks for more success this year. He is more than just your average quarterback when it comes to an option offense. Under coach Heath Ragle, Sanchez rushed for 1,403 yards and 17 touchdowns, while throwing for 650 yards and 10 more scores. Without the services of Clifton Johnson who graduated in the spring, fans will see Sanchez take on an even bigger role for the Bulldogs this year. It will be interesting to see what style Smith uses him in when the season begins Aug. 31 at Lone Oak. With the focus on Sanchez, fans can expect to see a de- termined player possibly playing on both sides of the ball. With his leadership, the Bulldogs could see playoff action for the first time since the 2013 campaign. 21
