Saul Williams Senior • RB/DB Brownsboro senior Saul Williams heads into the 2018 season focused on being the top running back in the area after a solid jun- ior campaign. Williams rushed for 1,174 yards and 15 touchdowns as part of a three-headed mon- ster that got the Bears to the playoffs under first-year coach Greg Pearson. He is the team's top returning tackler after recording 72 as a member of the secondary last year. According to the write-up in Dave Campbell's Texas Football, “Williams has good size and is a burner with the ball in his hands.” Pearson said he is expecting to see big things out of his senior back in Division II play. Williams is 5 feet, 10 inches and 170 pounds with a 4.5 40-yard dash. He looks to be the main focus of the running attack this year. With an impressive season, fans could see the Athens Daily Review All-Henderson County Area Most Valuable Player award re- turn to Bear Nation for the first time since 2006 when Ryan Epperson won the award. Williams would become the seventh player to win the award since 1982. The other winners are Scott Williams (1983), Bryan Bragg (1984), Allen Pace (1994), Amos Harmon in 2000, Jason Johnson in 2005 and Epperson in 2006. 16
