Best Dish Winners Best dish was based off what each attendee listed on their Thanksgiving Event Survey: 1st Place Robin Wright – Shemar Fields’ mom (Dressing) ! 2nd Place Crystal Brown – Jarvis Curtis’ mom (Greens) ! 3rd Place Lashanda Windom – Eric Vaughn’s mom (Yams with Marshmallow Topping) Taire Johnson gives his mother Tara Johnson a poinsettia as an act of gentlemanly greatness, while grandmother Meg Johnson smiles and enjoys the moment. ! SWAGG Academy: Greatness and Giving On November 20, 2013, SWAGG Academy held their Thanksgiving Celebration, “Proudly Pushing Positive Performances through Potluck” on Tougaloo College Campus in Holmes Hall Auditorium. The program began with a brief overview of the Active Parent Now Initiative and expectation of participants’ parents of SWAGG Academy. Next, Shemar Fields and Makare Loggins, both 3rd grade students at Walton Elementary School, said the ‘Welcome’ and ‘Purpose’ of the program, respectively. Then, Mr. Timothy Queen and Elliott Anderson, SWAGG Instructors, facilitated presentations by their groups which included the SWAGG Creed and SWAGG ‘Sound-Off’. Afterwards, the young men of SWAGG Academy presented a family member with a flower to display an ‘Act of Gentlemanly Greatness’ and in return, they receive their first award for this act, the official SWAGG handkerchief.
