JOEL
» What do you like
most about Samora?
Most? I have no idea! They’re
too many choices. As our
lives have changed, I’ve
seen so many new things
emerge in her that I admire
and appreciate. But perhaps
that’s it. I love the fact that
she’s graciously adapting
to new situations and new
challenges in our lives.
» How has your
friendship with her
improved your life?
I feel at home in our
relationship. I need that
stability and comfort. I feel
encouraged without feeling
pressured, and challenged
without feeling nitpicked.
That gives me grace to
continue to seek to grow and
improve and to pour myself
into our family and many
other pursuits.
» What are some
of the best conflict
resolution habits in
your marriage?
Prompt
apology
and
communication
of
forgiveness. In the midst of
talking through a problem
I usually don’t feel great
about the situation or Sam.
But I’ve realized that I can
communicate forgiveness or
apologise before the irritation
subsides, and that helps us to
get past the conflict.

✽ What do you like
most about Joel?
It’s easy to live with and love
Joel because he doesn’t have
a list of demands that must
be constantly fulfilled in
order to keep him satisfied.
He has truly been able to
accept me (and us) now,
while challenging me (and
us) to grow and change to
become better.
✽ How has your
friendship with him
improved your life?
HE SAID: SHE SAID SPECIAL
Joel’s friendship has allowed
me to grow as a person
without feeling either the
constant sting of criticism
or carefree passivity. He’s
been patient; challenging
me about the things he
believes I need to change
but with an assurance of his
constant love.
✽ What are some
of the best conflict
resolution habits in
your marriage?
The most important habit that
I believe we've developed
is apologizing when we
know we are wrong. The
battle for being right is real
and oftentimes arguments
come down to proving that
my perspective is better,
even perfect! Apologising
when wrong keeps me
humble and reminds me that
I’m imperfect.

I feel at home in
our relationship.
I need that stability
and comfort.
