CHILDREN'S PAINTING & DRAWING (AGES 6-8 AND 9-12) Our new Children’s Art classes will focus on fostering creative confidence and explore a variety of mediums such as acrylic and watercolour painting, charcoal, conte and graphite drawing. Through different materials and styles students will learn tonal value, perspective, portraiture and still life, along with both fundamental and expressive drawing and painting techniques, to create well-rounded and creative projects. Instructor: Amanda Baron is a mixed-media artist whose practice includes mixed media and digital painting, collage, drawing, ceramics and soft sculpture. She has a BFA from OCAD University and had the pleasure of studying in Florence, Italy under the OCAD Off-Campus Studies Program. Amanda’s work has been exhibited both locally and internationally. As an advocate of community arts, she has been teaching for several years, working with Visual Arts Mississauga and the Avenue Road Arts School. CHARCOAL PORTRAIT DRAWING (3 CLASSES) STILL LIFE WATERCOLOUR PAINTING Learning Outcomes: Tonal value, portraiture, shading, charcoal drawing and reductive drawing, using Käthe Kollwitz and Michelangelo Buonarotti examples. Learning Outcomes: Acrylic painting techniques, graphic painting, pointillism and pattern, using Andy Warhol and Roy Lichtenstein examples.
