YOUNG LAWYER SHOWCASE ZACH BOETTNER Zach Boettner is an associate attorney at Olson, Juntunen & Sandberg, Ltd., in Grand Forks. He practices primarily in the areas of cooperative law, estate planning, business law, and real property. Boettner grew up in Grand Forks and attended the University of North Dakota (UND) where he earned a bachelor of accountancy in 2011. He then attended the UND School of Law, graduating with a juris doctor, cum laude, in 2015. While in law school, Boettner was a member of the Energy Law Association and the Phi Delta Phi legal honor society. He also participated in the Carrigan Cup trial advocacy competition. He is currently a member of the Greater Grand Forks Bar Association, SBAND, and the South Dakota Bar Association. Boettner resides in Grand Forks with his wife, Rachel, and their dog, Charlie. In his spare time, he enjoys riding his Harley, playing golf, spending time with family and friends, enjoying summer weekends water skiing on West Battle Lake, Minn., and taking in UND men’s hockey games throughout the winter. JOHN WARD John Ward is an associate attorney at Zuger Kirmis & Smith in Bismarck. He is a graduate of the University of North Dakota School of Law, where he graduated with distinction. #EIDELIKE I’D LIKE CONFIDENCE ON THE STAND Prior to joining Zuger Kirmis & Smith, Ward represented clients in predominantly criminal and family law matters. He also served as a contract public defender in the South Central Judicial Distri ct. Ward joined Zuger Kirmis & Smith in January 2015. He has a diverse legal practice ranging from commercial/transactional work to civil litigation. Ward has appeared at all stages of litigation and has achieved favorable results for clients on appeal and in jury and bench trials in North Dakota. He is also licensed in Montana. Ward also works in government relations and represents clients before the North Dakota State Legislature. Ward serves as an officer and board member to various nonprofit and charitable foundations.
