Stem Convention, better known as Stem Con, was held on November 14, 2018 and it was an event designed to help sudents learn and drive their curiosity of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math . The convention was organized by Ms. Resnick and Mr. Haase with assistance from many other teachers such as Mr. Shallcross and Ms. Hazley.

There were many exciting events and activities at STEM Con. Mrs. AngeramiĀ“s Forensics class designed and built the escape room and Mr. Sheldon created a fastpitch activity where students were able to test how many miles per hour they could throw a baseball. Another great event was the Robo-Maze where students could use a remote controlled robot to travel through a maze. There was also a flower dissection activity in which students could dissect and name the parts of flowers. One of the main components was the Google Missions where students could create something new and useful from everyday items. For example, one google mission called Listen Up allowed students to create a speaker for their phones using cardboard toilet paper rolls. Stay Cool was another mission where students created a mini-fridge using plates, aluminum foil, and cotton balls. Lunar Lander, allowed students to use straws and index cards to make a shock-absorbent system. The goal was to put a marshmallow in the system and protect the marshmallow when landing.

STEM has a great impact on our lives because these subjects are used daily. 80% of all occupations in the United States involve a knowledge of science and math and without being exposed to these subjects, how are we supposed to make a difference in our world? Everyone can make a difference with just the drive to make it, which is what STEM Convention is all about. This year's Stem Con has made a difference in our lives and our futures.
