WINTER CONCERT REVIEW

At the end of December, a few days before the holidays, the high school concert band, choir, choraleers, and quartet gave a festive performance of holiday pieces at their winter concert. They performed their musical pieces in the auditorium in front of an audience of family and friends. Under the direction of Mr. Ortega and Mr. Couden, members of all ensembles worked their hardest to get their music to the level that it was. The choir began by singing a variety of holiday musical selections. Later, the choraleers stepped down to sing their holiday songs. Each member of the choraleers had to audition to be a part of this advanced choir group and the music they sang was much more difficult and complex than that of the choir. Shortly after the choraleers’ performance, the quartet, made up of juniors Summer Alfonso, Jonathan Bekas, Matteo Rosales, and Emily Bekas presented their songs. The choir then added a number of holiday pieces, leaving the crowd full of holiday cheer. The final part of the concert involved the performance of the concert band which played a variety of Hanukkah, Christmas, and winter songs. The musicians and singers have worked very hard all year both during the school day and in after school practices to perfect their pieces. Many soloists were featured throughout the performance, finishing off a wonderful night and making for a very successful concert.
