High School Fall Sports

The 2018 boy’s soccer season kicked off on September 4th, with a huge 5-3 win over Ridgefield in the opening game. Christopher Alfieri entered his eighth season as the head coach with huge expectations. These expectations rose even higher after shutting down the defending champions and a state powerhouse Wallington at home in their second game. The first loss came fast, however, in the third game to Becton. Then, the season became a roller coaster ride for the Falcons, winning games 9-0 against St. Mary or 5-1 to Paterson Charter and seeing defeats in close games to Wood Ridge (1-0), and the 2018 NJIC champions, Hasbrouck Heights (2-1). Furthermore, the Falcons qualified to the 2018 NJIC tournament and being the number one seed, played Lodi at home. The Falcons were came off the field during halftime with their heads high and a 1-0 lead. However, another disappointing loss followed after Lodi equalized in the second half and scored a golden goal winner in overtime, to throw the Falcons out of the tournament. We finished our season 6-11-3. On an individual level, the team had three all-league members: Jakub Gniazdowski, First Team; David Guerra, Second team; Tyler Sisti, honorable mention; and one all-county mention: Jakub Gniazdowski.

This season the girl’s tennis team focused on improving. Our team grew greatly; not only did we have the members from the prior year, but we also gained several new members. With the leadership from our coaches, Millie (Mrs. Militello) and Ms. Wojcik and our captains, Lauren Holdsworth and Nicole Wolosyn, we were
