back. We chose to fight! We decided to take part in the Campaign. This was one of our first encounters with sacrifice and the power of God in a mighty way. We put our faith on the altar and went back for the tests.” We had plans for the future, and although we were working towards them, they never quite came together as we wanted. There always seemed to be a big obstacle or resistance preventing us from moving forward, despite our best efforts. Sharokh received the all clear from the doctors. “This was proof that sacrifice worked!” Fabiana said excitedly. “We took part in other Campaigns and saw things happening, but we didn’t take part in them with the same intensity as before. Looking back, I understand that unless you present a perfect sacrifice – what God asks of you – you cannot receive the answer you seek. If just anything is what you place on the altar, you will be disappointed. I think that was our mistake. By this time, we were living an ‘okay life’, but it didn’t sit well with us. We wanted to open an import/export business and be financially stable, especially after the loss of our second child. There were some complications during my pregnancy and I ended up losing the baby. That loss hit us hard. We couldn’t fund for the care that was needed and this limitation brought about such a revolt in us that we refused to continue living an ‘okay life’. My husband and I vowed to sacrifice like never before. If God had done the impossible in our lives before, He could do it again, but it all depended on us.” When the Campaign in the Temple of Solomon took place in July this year, Gideon’s revolt became Fabiana and Sharokh’s petition before God. “If the Lord is with us, why then has all this happened to us? And where are all His miracles which our fathers told us about…” (Judges 6:13) “We threw ourselves into this Campaign completely. We had the full assurance that God would answer. I remember that we had many bills to pay and we didn’t have enough money to do that. My husband and I sat together and said that it’s time to call upon God and do something big. We decided to sacrifice and present everything we were and everything we had to God. We went into the Campaign with the assurance that God would transform our finances just as He had changed my husband’s health. What we had at the time could not solve our problems or change the quality of our lives, so it was logical for us to exchange it with what God had promised. Our faith was that we would give God what we had in exchange for what He had planned for us. We knew it was going to be difficult, but we believed in what we were doing, so we took all that we could get our hands on and placed it on the altar. No one told us to do it. This was between us and the altar. Initially, after presenting our sacrifice, we didn’t even know how my husband was going to get to work or how things would turn around, but we trusted in the altar and were sure of our sacrifice.” Not long after, unexpected things started to happen. “It was like that huge resistance we had struggled against had fallen. The first sign was that we received a car, and then we received an unexpected lump sum of hundreds of thousands! We couldn’t believe it! Right after that, a five-year court battle was judged in my favour and the settlement ruled that I am to receive thousands in compensation. This was something that I had been struggling with for so long that I had even put it at the back of my mind! On top of this, we’ve recently been able to open our import/export business, and things are really looking up. This Campaign opened doors that we thought were impossible to open and has put our lives on a brand- new path. We are reaping today the fruit of what we planted on the altar. Sacrifice works! We’re seeing it with our own eyes.” uckg.org|9
