12 FAITH IN ACTION FAITH AND ACTION BECAME THE KEY TO MY SUCCESS When your education and career seem to be at a halt and nothing is moving forward, you become frustrated and impatient. Life slows down on the path to progress and optimism now seems like a thing of the past. However, it is at this exact moment that you need to make things happen; it is at this critical point that faith and trusting in God makes the impossible, possible. Ify Chibeze learned this first hand and here she tells us how she conquered these aspects of her life and still continues to do so today. “D espite all the qualifications I had gained over the years, I was finding it near impossible to find a job. I decided that this was my opportunity to put my faith to the test. So, I used the blessed oil and the salt, I prayed, I fasted, and I even woke up in the middle of the night to pray. I used my faith in every way possible, pushing myself more and more every day, all the while, believing that God would honour me. My efforts did not go to waste and, as I had believed, God honoured me. At the beginning of February this year, I secured a position as an intern for a very good company. I gained some experience there, which was an excellent starting point for my career. Furthermore I was also doing my masters, which turned out to be much harder than I had anticipated. I lost faith in reaching certain deadlines and knew that seeking inspiration from God would get me to where I wanted to be. I continued to do what God asked of me, and it just so happened that a certain coursework deadline was extended, which meant I was able to complete it on time. I was also facing a number of problems with my dissertation, where sometimes I was told that I could go ahead with my work and simultaneously I was told I could not. I kept going back and forth and had no true direction. Over time, this became disheartening. So again, I used my faith to put things right. I prayed and adopted a positive mindset to move forward. I would anoint my hand before shaking my supervisor’s hand and sprinkled salt around her office; the consequences were wonderful. She was very nice to me and we developed a great relationship. I was able to start and complete my dissertation, in which I recived a first class classification, regardless of all the initial setbacks. Throughout my journey, my faith in God and the action I took became the story to my success. I have more to accomplish, and I plan on using my faith in the same way as I work towards success in every aspect of my life.” Ify’s faith is what allowed her to be optimistic until she saw a change in her life. Faith is available to everyone, but to see its full power in our lives, we need to use it intelligently. Ify Chibeze Make your impossible become possible SATURDAYS, 7AM
