I GAVE MY WORRIES TO

God

“ What was I doing wrong as a mother ? What did I not give to my kids ?” These were the questions Maxine Campbell found herself asking when her son ’ s behaviour turned from bad to worse , and was no longer the little boy she knew .
“ Every time I received a phone call from my son ’ s school , all I heard were complaints . It was becoming difficult for the school to put up with his bad behaviour , and it was no different at home . However , this was not the child that I knew .
He became negative and rebellious . He would say things that you would never expect to come from a child so young . There were even times when he attempted to cause harm to himself .
He would say hurtful and negative things about himself and would not accept any affection . I did not understand the drastic change that had occurred in him over the years .
My kind and polite son was turning into a terror . The lowest moment was when the social services got involved and referred him to a mental health unit to be assessed .
Through the use of my faith , things had gradually started to improve , but were not yet how I wanted them to be . I needed to see a greater change and so decided to take part in the Campaign .
During this Campaign , God required me to prioritise my relationship with Him , and as I started investing more in this area of my life , I realised that I did not worry about my son as much as I did before .
This allowed me to start trusting that God would make a difference in his life .
I was putting into practice what I learned in the services and asking God to help me understand my son better . I also made a financial sacrifice .
Since taking part in the Campaign , I have seen drastic changes in my son . He is completely different now . Our relationship has improved , and I understand him better . The school praises him for his hard work and his good behaviour .
The Campaign taught me that you should give all your worries to God because He will never fail you .”

“ Sacrifice includes the act of voluntarily giving something up in exchange for something else of much greater value .”
