Her name is Mayrose Galapon and she
is known as “Nana Rose” by many. She
is fifty seven years old. She is a simple
woman, friendly, helpful, familyoriented and a God-fearing person. In
short, she is a typical Filipina.
She is a loving wife and mother of
three; two sons and a daughter.
Because life was hard, she left the
Philippines to seek greener pastures in
a foreign land, so that she could give
her children a brighter future. She
landed in Singapore and worked as a
domestic helper for several years.

She went back to her native land when
she had earned enough to make a new
life with her loved ones. From the fruit
of labor, she built a bungalow where she
hoped her family might live happily.
But life got harder every day when she
came home. She and her husband didn't
have permanent jobs. So, in order to
sustain the needs of the family, they
helped neighbors on their farms, washed
clothes and cleaned houses. She wanted
to send her children to college because
she had big dreams for them; but that
didn't happen.
