Why did you want to be involved in this
production?
As the grandson of Tim LaHaye, I had a frontrow seat as the book series exploded into
popular culture. I read a lot of fan letters that
came in when the Left Behind series became
number-one sellers. The through-line that I
found fascinating was that Christians loved to
give the books to their unsaved friends and
family. This book that my grandfather wrote to
inspire Christians to learn more about biblical
prophecy turned into an incredible outreach
tool. That was inspiring to me as a young man.
I felt like none of the movies made from these
books really spoke to the kids of this generation. I always wanted to do something that furthered my grandfather’s legacy and captured
the full potential of the outreach of his books.
My grandfather also wrote a series, Left Behind:
The Kids. While I was watching Twilight, God
gave me the idea to use those kids books and
take some points out of them. I would create a
brand new, fresh, YA version of Left Behind so
that it could really speak to today’s kids. Times
