culture. The gospel of peace is
policy for believers. Of course,
you are not going to walk around
the office loudly declaring the
policy. Nor in the spiritual realm
are you trying to work with demons. No, in this case you are
creating a kingdom culture, partnering with heaven to stand in
opposition of wickedness. Matthew 18:18 says: ““Assuredly, I
say to you, whatever you bind
on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on
earth will be loosed in heaven.”
This is the authority we walk in.
When we align our words with
the will of God, and bind those
things that come in opposition to
God’s goodness, and his truth,
they are bound. There is no
question about whether or not
those words are effective. Often, this is where the difficulty
of authority lies. Many believers
present a prayer as a request
to God, waiting for Him to answer. However, that would be
similar to going to the CEO for
every problem that you have the
authority to handle. Instead we
are being told we have the right
to bind those things. We have
the authority to command those
things to leave. In addition to this
we can look further and see that
verse 19-20 express the power
of agreement. Matthew 18:1920: “Again I say to you that if two
of you agree on earth concerning anything that they ask, it will
be done for them by My Father
in heaven. For where two or
three are gathered together in
My name, I am there in the midst
of them.” This is one of the many
reasons I love corporate prayer.
When I gather with other believers to stand within the spiritual
authority given to me I know that
Christ is in the midst of us. Gathering corporately puts into action ‘one can chase a thousand,
but two can put ten-thousand to
flight’ (Deut 32:30).
Lastly, treading upon serpents
requires a spiritual maturity in
recognizing your Christ identity.
Like the example of the promotion, once we step into the role,
we recognize our power is given
to us by the CEO. The CEO of
our spiritual authority is Christ.
Through Him we have our very
being. In Him we can rejoice because He has gone ahead of us
and has obtained the victory. Our
authority is meaningless without
Him. Revelation 12:11 shows us
this by stating: “And they overcame him by the blood of the
Lamb and by the word of their
testimony, and they did not love
their lives to the death.” We overcome by the blood. Everything
that attempts to rise up against
us has already been conquered
by the death and resurrection of
Christ. When we assert our authority we do so with boldness
and courageousness in Him. We
allow Him to govern our thoughts,
our hearts, our prayers, and our
lives, because He has already
determined a favorable outcome
for His children. This is why our
testimony is a part of the overcoming process. The more you
determine in your heart to study
His word, and to diligently seek
Him, the more you will find victory in the face of every opposition. For this reason we can rise
up and say “For You have armed
me with strength for the battle;
You have subdued under me
those who rose up against me.”
(Psalm 18:39 NKJV) For this
reason we can return to God’s
instructions in Joshua 1:9 to ‘Be
strong and of good courage; do
not be afraid, nor be dismayed,
for the Lord your God is with you
wherever you go.’ With all authority and power in Christ may
you recognize your spiritual authority and continue to fight the
good fight of faith.
