He uses weapons of deception and distraction. His lie that ‘it really isn’t that bad’ and that ‘by dressing up and eating candy you are not really partaking’ is a trick to get you to believe that what you are doing really is not that bad. I mean trick or treating is not as bad as stealing or murder right? The problem is we as humans are the only who use a scale for sin. God doesn’t. God see’s us following him or not following him, that’s it. There is no degree to which it differs. He sees our heart and our choices and it does not matter what level of sin it is; it is all sin to him. fellowship with as families and the kids would each get a candy bag. It was great because when the children returned to school, they did not have to necessarily say they did nothing and boycotted Halloween, as they may not be mature enough to explain why. I found this to be a very creative way to not participate and promote the Halloween, and as I explain this to other parents, it stands out because we are being different. It allows me to explain why I am not participating, and gives an opportunity to explain Christ and what he calls us to do. HOW TO BE A LIGHT INSTEAD We all have free will, and can make out own decisions for our family. In the end, I want to live a life that I can stand in front of Christ and say with what I have learned, I did my best to follow A church we went to in the past had a great idea. We had a pool party on Halloween night instead! We would all get together, him in every area. Christ calls us to be in the world, but not of it. I believe Halloween is a great time to live that out. We are to live in this earthly world, but not succumb to the pressure to follow what everyone else it doing. As Christians, we are tp stand outto show that Christ is alive, be a light, to be different, and do different things. I encourage anyone struggling with Halloween to do some research and learn more about what is truly represents and pray about it. Allow God to guide you in the decision. My name is Danielle Foisy.
