Halloween
Christian Clean-Up or
Avoid Altogether?

n our home, we do not celebrate Halloween. This is definitely not the norm, I know. It
also isn’t always even the norm
within Christian households. As
I have learned over the years
what Halloween represents, we
made a choice in our family to
not partake in that, even though
people think they have found
ways to participate and ‘not participate in the dark aspects of
it.’ I know many people, Christians included, who are absolutely fine with dressing up and
trick or treating and feel they are
not supporting the evil and dark
aspects that this holiday represents. Unfortunately, from my
experience and research, this
is just not true. By participating,
we are supporting the meaning
of Halloween even if we have no
intent to. We also are showing
the world that there are times to
follow Christ, and times we can
make our own choices and still
be a Christian.
Today, I want to look at what
where Halloween started, what it
represents, why it is not something we should partake in as
Christians, and how to be a light
on this dark holiday.
