How did Unspoken form?
Were you already connected
before forming the band?
I grew up in a Christian home,
and I am grateful that my parents forced me to go to church.
I wasn’t grateful at the time. But
I am so glad that I was able to
grow up with Jesus Christ and
the truth. When I got into my
early 20’s I got into the use of
drugs, and selling drugs. My
life was so dark and desperate.
For three years, I think I spent 6
days sober. Those three years
I was headed down the wrong
path. [during that time] The Lord
was tugging on my heart. I love
the verse in Philippians 1:6 that
‘God who starts a work will finish
a work’. He starts it and He finishes it. So some get lost along
the way and derailed off course,
but God doesn’t forget about us
[those that are lost].
focus off of where I was. I started
to read the bible, and pray; you
know “hang out with Jesus”. My
life took a crazy turn for the better. While I was in the Dominican
Republic I met Mike Gomez. He
is native Dominican, born and
raised. He was 24 or 27 when
we met. After a couple months
of being down there the Lord put
us together, and I brought Mike
back to Maine with me.
The group started with two total
strangers that just had a passion
for the Lord, gifted in music, who
wanted to share what God had
done for them. We didn’t really
have a group or pla n. We bought
my grandparent’s 1994 shark
blue fleetwood cadillac. It was
big enough for one of us to sleep
in the front, the other in the back,
and all our music gear in the
trunk. We literally started going
around to street corners, camp

and to serve people; to get my Along the way we picked up dif-
ferent band members. That’s
kind of who we are today. Four
original members [with] 10 to
13 years, and a keyboardist we
picked up a year ago. We are
still doing this with the same
passion using music as a tool to
share the gospel.
The way the band formed is
incredible to your own personal testimony. You walking
out of a lifestyle of drugs, and
Him drawing you back to Him.
Then bring brothers along the
way for you to have someone
to do this walk with.
It’s such a benefit to be a part of
a band because we are a traveling church. We can encourage each other and get in each
other’s faces if we need to. Keep
our walk right, our goals and visions aligned with the Lord.

you hope others receive when
they listen? What is the mes-
