As I mentioned earlier , we have been given an incredible power source for which to draw upon to fulfill anything and everything that God calls us to do ! It ’ s the same spirit that raised Christ Jesus from the dead !
But how can I , just one person , really make a difference in the world ?
It ’ s simple , really . You make a difference by being obedient . The Bible says that before He formed you in your mother ’ s womb , He knew you ( Jer . 1:5 ). God has a unique assignment for each and every person . He has a plan for the world and created you for a specific mission within that plan . You carry something unique . Because of the special gifts and talents that you have , you contribute something distinctive to the world around you to advance the kingdom of God on the earth .
God holds the blueprint and He created you as a tool in His master plan . How can you make a difference ? By obeying the call of God on your life and doing something .
David made a difference with just one stone . But it wasn ’ t the stone so much as his willing heart and trust in the One who would be the momentum behind the stone ; the thrust behind his faith .
The Bible tells us that God uses the foolish things of the world to confound the wise . Often times the way of the Lord seems crazy . How can I do that , we wonder . But God thinks you can do anything , friend . He places His spirit inside you to ensure it !
The enemy wants to trick us into believing that our efforts aren ’ t big enough to make enough of an impact in the world around us , “ What can you do ?”
When in reality , it ’ s not the impact we can see that conveys the difference we actually make . It ’ s the eternal impression of our obedience that carries the weight . You may never know just how much of a difference you ’ ve made and that needs to be okay . If you are waiting for some scale to measure the weight of your impact , you ’ ll be waiting a long time . Besides , it ’ s not about you anyway … it ’ s about Him and what He wants to do through you for others .
Jesus came and was able to influence a group of twelve individuals … I mean , really impact . Jesus . The Son of God . Who left His throne in heaven to save the world had twelve who stuck by Him and truly gleaned from Him and His teaching . Twelve …
Part of the reason we are able to do greater works than He did is because the way is paved for us .
John the Baptist prepared the way of the Lord Jesus and the Lord Jesus prepared the way for the Holy Spirit . It was in the will of God that Jesus only live on the earth temporarily in order to model for us what the nature of God actually looks like and the possibilities for all who believe . All fullness of the deity of God was in Him and we were able to see that modeled in human form ( Col . 2:9 ). Jesus laid down His life in our place as the Lamb of God so that we could be freed from the grip and punishment of sin once and for all and now . By His blood we are free and new creations in Christ Jesus .
With the empowerment of the Holy Spirit in us the way has been paved by Christ Himself for us to shine the light of Jesus to the lost and dying world around us . With Christ living in our hearts and the Holy Spirit speaking through us , there isn ’ t anything we can ’ t do . And that typically begins in our own thought life . Believing what God says about us and what we can do with Christ in us .
It ’ s important that we not be so caught up in seeing the impact we can make and instead just make it . Do something … take a step . Give a hug . Say a prayer . Be a friend . Whatever it is that you feel the Holy Spirit stirring in your heart to do , do it . Be obedient . God desires obedience over sacrifice . ( 1 Sam . 15:22 )
Trust in the Lord and lean not on your own understanding ( Prov . 3:5 ). God ’ s ways are not our ways . We will never be able to measure what He will do through us we just need to be obedient in obeying His leading . Take the step .
Moving past the question about how one person can make a difference is part of the renewing of the mind that occurs as we abide in Christ . The more time we spend with Him , in His presence , the more Christ-like we become . Jesus wasn ’ t concerned about how big of an impact He was or wasn ’ t making ,
