The Importance of
Engaging Within the Body

W
hen I first rededicated
my life to the Lord in
2008 I specifically told
God that I would go to church
every Sunday because I wanted to know Him. I also told God
that I did not want to make any
friends, I just wanted to come
and go unbothered. I was broken and bitter, and I did not want
to risk being hurt in anyway. For
three months, I came to church
late, and left early so as not meet
anyone.
During that third month a church
leader spotted me and strongly
encouraged me to join a ministry. She said that it was important
for me to get to know people. I
reluctantly chose a ministry only
because I wanted to respect my
elders. Going through the list of
ministries, I decided to join the
young adults ministry because
I figured it would be the easiest
ministry, and little would be required of me. I thank God that I
was wrong.
Despite my best efforts, once
I began attending the young
adults ministry, I started to build
relationships and read my Bible. The truth is that I did not
start reading my Bible because
it is what we are called to do. I
