Healing and deliverance from
the additions and its strong hold
over the person addicted. Praying a prayer to the Lord to do
whatever it takes to bring healing for some addicted persons
may take drastic measures,
however remember it is for the
greater good of the person fighting an addiction.
Now suppose a person refuses
to acknowledge their problem and refuses to seek help.
Often many homes have had
to remove themselves from the
person addicted to protect themselves and offer them some time
to recognize their problem. One
quick note, never stay in a place
where harm may come. Never
place yourself in harm’s way.
Remember an addicted person
no longer can make rational
decisions and you may have to
take the first step and remove
you and the family from the situation. Your safety and the safety
of your family comes first. Never
take these steps alone. Many
cities have shelters for abused
families and reaching out to them
can help you have the courage
to make that needed step. You
may be telling yourself that this
is easier said than done, and you
are right. However, facing such
a difficult task need not be done
alone. God wants to help you
be strong and courageous, like
God told Joshua before crossing
into the promise land “Have I not
commanded you? Be strong and
courageous! Do not tremble or
be dismayed, for the Lord your
God is with you wherever you
go.” (Joshua 1:9)
When I was a young woman my
mother had both legs amputated
as a results of diabetes. Because
of the long process of healing
my mother became addicted
to Valium. It was a challenging
road helping my mom step away
from the drug. However, I have
no regrets. At first we faced her
anger, then her tears and finally
her release. She had a full recovery partly because we prayed for
her and stood beside her. Addiction is a stronghold many need
help over coming. Remember
you are not alone. After you have
prayed and asked for God’s
divine intervention reach out
and let someone help you get
your life back. Start right now by
talking to your pastor, your local
hospital or support group. There
are many support groups in your
area. Let them help you help
your family. The key to recovery is prayer, reaching out for
help, standing beside your love
one even if you must leave and
remember never stay in an abusive situation, your safety and
the safety of your family comes
first. Remember addicted persons may not be able to make
rational decisions. Be prepared
to step in. The impossible task is
always possible with God “And
looking at them Jesus said to
them, “With people this is impossible, but with God all things are
possible.” (Matthew 19:26) Be
strong. God knows what you
need and He’s ready to help.
