above. What if the stronghold is
something like fear or shame,
though? In cases such as those,
giving no opportunity may involve
something like deliberately, consciously refusing to rehearse the
lies that have been planted in
the midst of whatever emotional
pain or trauma is empowering
the stronghold.
Confess to someone else the
struggle
in
process. This
is
often
h e l p ful, even
necessary. It is
one way
to “bear
e a c h
other’s
burdens”
(Gal. 6:2).
It is also
an example
of
how two
standing
together
are better
than one
standing alone
because
when one
falls, the
other can lift him up. (Eccl. 4:910). When it comes to battling
strongholds, whether the enemy
is demonic or simply a deeplyrooted habit, it is far more effective to battle them together than
to attempt to engage the battle
alone. Finally, and most importantly, remember the scripture
that says, “A cord of three strands
is not easily broken” (Eccl. 4:12).
This reminds us that when deal-
ing with spiritual strongholds, if
a struggler and a friend stand
together in the power of God, the
strength available is limitless.

RUN TO OUR HOLY STRONGHOLD
In the midst of the battle, we can
always remember that strongholds are not always unholy.
Again, in 2 Samuel: 2-3 (NIV),
